Free Mini Books

Do you need more reading resources for your classroom?  Do you have a classroom budget?  Then the free Mini Books from Scholastic are just what you need.  You can search by topic, reading level, and grade level. This tool is wonderful for reinforcing concepts from other subjects in your reading lesson.  If you have students that are above or below the level of books you have in your classroom library this could also be a valuable tool.  If you create an account, or have a Scholastic account all ready, then you can save books online to use in the future.  Happy reading!! 

Free Rice

I know that Freerice.com is not a new sight.  I had not been there in about two years and it has changed a bit.  There are still activities for art, com arts, math, language learning, world geography, and chemistry that earn free rice for developing nations. Now they have a login!  You can track your totals, create groups, and more.  What a neat way to help others and learn!  Think about how you could use this in your classroom.  I think that goal setting would work well with this.  A grade level contest maybe? Now that you can track your totals there is a lot more then it just being fun.
